STL UndaGround Scene: Mixxtape Mondays (show3)

Whut up St.Louis and everybody else out there! It's time to get the scoop on this past MIXXTAPE MONDAYS. Well y'all, once again rap acts were scrappin it out for this week's braggin rights for who "BLEW UP THA SPOT". The rap group K.F.P. (Known For Pimpin) would be the front runner in my humble opinion. These guys had energy and a certain swag. They have a fan base for sure because when they took the stage, their fans rushed to the stage and kicked it the whole performance. I don't know how long these guys been doing this but they puttin it down fam. You could tell they love what they do.

I wanna give a shout out to Dj Boogie Corleone for mixin it up real nice on the 1's and 2's. Due to an overwhelming response from artists to perform their music and due to limited timing, groups and solo artists need to be at the club with their music by 9:30pm. Boogie Corleone had to inform and explain the rules a couple of times that night to let everyone know that you just can't stroll in at 10:30pm with your cd expecting to perform. We have to be fair to ALL artists who get to the club ON TIME to sign up to perform because this event is not about favoritism....aight peeps! Let's keep it 1hundred or like Uncle Sunny would say, "Let's keep it 98and2".

Biggups to all the hiphop headz out there as well. I was very suprised but not shocked that the Lou has so many true hiphop katz who represent for the culture and are still preserving it in its true art form! Me being a hiphop kat myself would really like to do a collaboration with a few of the hiphop groups that represent for the culture. And to the hardcore rap acts out there, keep it trill , keep it gangsta and do what it do.

Big shout out to Suave Tré for keepin the vibe flowin. There where a couple of celebrities in the house. BET comedian G-Thang came thru and he was enjoyin himself y'all. Also comedian Lil Rock Obama was in the house checkin out the scene and Chocolate Tai from Derrty Ent. came thru chillin. Big shout out to Next Level Music Group for putting this event together.

Who is gonna earn  next weeks braggin rights? We'll just have to wait and see.

STL UndaGround Scene: Mixxtape Mondays (show2)

What up St. Lou, it's ya boy Philly Dondada bringing you the latest happenings about Mixxtape Mondays at Club Es·ca·láde. It was another successful & energetic nite of performances as hungry artists entertained the crowd to see if they have what it takes to blow up out of the LOU. I am not going to lie, I really feel that one or two of the rap acts really have a shot of making it to the BIG TYME! The event was poppin all the way up to 1am and when the acts were all finished the DJ played some tunes and the crowd filled the stage and dancefloor partying it up dancing and having a good time.

The host, Suave Tré, kept the event rolling smoothly with witty introductions and positive feedback to all participants. Suave also kept the audience involved with his impromtu speeches about how it is very important for us St. Louisians to network amongst each other to achieve moderate success. Mixxtape Mondays is a non-biased but very competive atmosphere to be in. You can come dressed up or dressed down and nobody will hate on you because the main focus is all about the talent. Next Level Music Group's CEO, Marlon Payne a.k.a. "P.L.", has something really special going on @ Club Es·ca·láde and I am glad to be a part of it. Also, I wanna give a "big-up" to the DJ who was mixing it up in between acts and mixed it up at the end.

I also wanna give a "big-up" to Mack Shawn who was representing socialpitt.com and Mack Dinero Music Group. Mack Shawn was shooting a commercial for the event and he recorded some performances as well. There were a few standouts that rocked the house and they were The AMP SQUAD, T-DUB and P.K. Da Don Lady. In my opinion, these 3 acts have a shot at making billboard. Now, I'm not saying that any of the other performers don't have a shot at making it big because they do. I am just stating that the artists I named stood out from the rest and had great energy to get noticed by an A&R rep. Let's go STL......let's continue to support each other and work harder at supporting each other by collaborating with each other for songs, beats, video production, marketing, etc.

The AMP Squad

T-Dub

P-K Da Don Lady

Marketing developer, Natasha Harris, for Sho Meii Marketing was in the house documenting the event as well. She met with a few artists and exchanged information with them to help market and promote them professionally. I wanna give a shout-out to the security team for providing us with a safe environment. And oh, I can't forget about the lovely Miss Keisha who was working the door and greeted everyone with a warm smile.

Well y'all, I can't wait to see who is gonna rip it next week! Hope to see you there. Peace.

STL UndaGround Scene: Mixxtape Mondays

What up St.Louis! Well, if you didn't know you are about to know about the revitalized undaground movement in the Lou. Every Monday night at Club Es·ca·lade (in U-City), there is an open mic for performers to showcase their talent. This event gives singers, rappers and poets a chance to let people hear what they have to say. It is also a great avenue for exposure because some of St. Louis's best shakers and movers come out to this event to see if they can discover the next BIG artist to hit the scene.

This past Monday (Dec.14, '09) I witnessed some very good groups and individual artists. To my surprise, EVERYONE did a great job. All the acts were full of energy and it was also very competitive as well. Everyone who performed had to step it up a notch just to keep up with the competition. The host, Suave Tré, did an excellent job hosting the event as he further gave energy to the performers and kept the crowd tuned in. Suave brought something else to the event which was something very unusual for St.Louis and that something is FAIR, UN-BIASED and POSITIVE vibes which truly made it a STRESS-FREE ENVIRONMENT! The crowd gave every performer a round of applause for support. That was really refreshing to see St.Louis artists supporting each other. Great job of hosting Suave Trey!! Keep it up.

P.S. I forgot to tell y'all that the original name of the event was called "Mic-Check Monday" but there was an event already called that which we were unaware of. I am a bonifide journalist and concert promoter and I have never heard of a "mic check monday" in St.Louis until a couple rap artists informed me that they were using the name for about 2years now. Also the rap guys said that their event was an underground event...that's probably why I never heard about it because they didn't advertise. Well, to keep everyone happy and everything peaceful our event is now officially changed to "MIXXTAPE MONDAYS".
